Last Day of the Semester!

Hey guys,

So as you probably know by now, I am not only a workaholic, but also a full-time student. Today is my last day of the semester, and last day of classes for good! I have an internship next semester and will no longer be on campus. It still is strange to even think about, and I think I’ve been convincing myself that it isn’t really the end as I have been moving out of my dorm. I’m sure it will hit me when Monday rolls around and I don’t have any classes to attend. Continue reading

Greedy Customers

This weekend I encountered two greedy customers who really irked me, but there was nothing I could do about it. Since it has annoyed me since then, I decided to share the stories with you guys. Sorry to rant, but I think it will make me feel better to hear your feedback! Continue reading

Annoying Co-Workers

Happy Friday Workaholics!

I realized recently that sometimes it is not the customers that annoy me most, but it is my co-workers who really drive me insane. I have found that there is always that one co-worker that decides to interrupt you over the stupidest things when you are clearly trying to get your work done. I have resorted to avoiding that one co-worker, and try my hardest to look as busy as possible at all times. Continue reading

Bad Customer Service

Happy Monday Workaholics!

I know that normally I share annoying customer stories, but today I really want to share a story about terrible customer service that I witnessed recently. Continue reading

International Lettuce

Hi again workaholics!

Last night I was working at the grocery store and had one of the most obnoxious customers ever. It started off as an ordinary busy Saturday night at the grocery store. I was shift leading and in charge of making sure everything ran smoothly at the front end of the store. As I was asking one of the baggers to do a floor sweep, I saw one of the cashiers lights start flashing. When the light starts flashing, it means the cashier needs help with something. Steamed Lobster

Today I am going to cover a touchy subject: Food Stamps. While I think it is one of the best benefits we can offer to those in need, I unfortunately have seen many instances of people who abuse the benefit.

This is one of my biggest pet peeves! I hate when customers request to speak with a manager because they do not believe what I have said. Usually, as in this case, we know more than the manager because we are more familiar with our department than the manager is. Check out more posts from this blog!

Things You Learn In A Butcher's Store

No matter how long you work at a job, customers will always seek another opinion, regardless of what you tell them.

Customers regularly pull this trick on me, despite the fact that I cook my own meals and that I’ve been working in a butcher’s store for 3 years.

Three customers pulled it on me today, which is a personal record. Two on how to cook lamb, the third on cheeses. I’m the one who spent 2.5years looking after the cheeses and deli stuff, moron, not the boss. Hell, I’ve sampled
More cheeses and know more about it than him. Gah!

Customers just don’t think, really. That’s the only explanation. So, if you offer a customer some advice and they ask the boss, just hope the boss gives them the wrong advice. The customer will deserve it for wasting your time.

Great Sites To Check Out!

Happy Friday Workaholics!

This week was an incredibly short week for me. Classes were cancelled on monday and Tuesday, so the week just flew by. Since I had some extra time this week, I decided to do some more research to find sites that may be of interest to us workaholics. Continue reading

Talking on the phone while at the check out… Is it rude?

Hello again workaholics!

Work at the grocery store was crazy this weekend! Many people were rushing in at the last-minute to prepare for Hurricane Sandy. An odd thing I must note is that whenever a severe storm is approaching, customers stock up on eggs and milk… Something I will never understand. If you lose power, the milk will go bad and there’s no way to cook the eggs! (Unless you’re Rocky, in which case you prefer to drink them raw anyways) Continue reading
